Khushboo's By Chand at the Birmingham Asiana Bridal Show 2010

Opening the catwalk show at the Birmingham Asiana Bride Show 2010 was Khushboo's by Chand. Now whenever I mention this company, there always follows a stream of less than complementary comments and a few over the top with praise reviews too. I've personally never visited their store let alone bought anything so I can't say either way if they're good or bad. What I can say is that you shouldn't base your purchase decision solely on something you've read online (whether it be a positive or negative review!), the best way to find out anything is to go and check them out in person for yourself!

Now onto the clothes! They had two sections to their show, the first was full of colour and every single outfit was glittering and shining in the light! (Apologies for my amateur photography - click on each image for an enlarged view)

From your more traditional style tops above to teeny tiny bikini-style tops like the one below, there was a variety to suit most shades of modesty. I know I wouldn't wear the top below, but I do really like the skirt.

There was also a lot of velvet from most of the designers, like the two outfits above. I haven't worn velvet in a very long time but having seen and touched some of the outfits up close, all I can say is velvet + embroidery = really heavy!

They finished off their first part of the show with a traditional red outfit. I really like the shape of the skirt and the embroidery - a simple design at the top and then more heavy work at the bottom. I think the shape of the back looks really pretty too with the little cut-out, it's perfect for accessorising with a mehndi design or stick-on gems.

  2. I think a lot of times retailers have a tendency to market a lenghas as mermaid cut when they aren't really, they are more of a bell skirt. The cut of the last two lenghas are to me, a real mermaid cut.

  4. the clothes beautiful in khusboos but the service is awful. the assistants have no customer service skills and are very rude..once you place your order and they have your money they are then not bothered about you even thogh it is your big wedding day.

    1. I completely agree! The outfits are lovely but once you've ordered and paid and you go back for your fitting they can't wait to get ride of you. The lady the did my fitting had the audacity to tell me I'd gone fat that's why my outfit didn't fit. I wish I had gone somewhere else.

  10. I too have had dealings with Khusboo's and can agree with the other negative comments, when I first placed my order the service I received was good, once they had my money it was a different story, I had to constantly chase them, my order was late, and after weeks of false promises and bad staff attitude I gave up my outfits were not as they had promised they would be. Not only that after speaking to other Khusboo victims I found that I had been ripped off as my outfit was also avilable in Dhadkans a few doors down at a much cheaper price!

  11. Hello to all customers of Khushboo's By Chand. Just to let you know what my experience has been as a very happy and satisfied customer at Khushboo's and to see other customers becoming over whelmed and gratituted by Chand's care towards his customers because they have been disapointed and turned down from their previous bridal providers, this is something we must appreciate and be thankfull for instead of making negative comments which are due to customers change of mind or change of taste. I have always shopped at Khushboo's, I always reccomend Khushboo's and for generations to come this will be our favourite Asian shop for Bridals or Party wear. The kind of service that is provided by Chand and his Staff can only be admitted and justified by Honest customers! From, Ayesha Khan.

  17. Hi i have been a customer of khushboos when my sister got marrid. we purchased her outfit from there aswell as two made to order suits. the quality of the outfits was amazing, the detail, the fabric, the embrodiry everything was perfect. the prices were slightly high but every penny was worth it. as for the customer service that we recieved i have a mixed opinion about it. the first time we visited the shop they were very nice and helpful and the 2nd time i noticed they were abit distant may be this was because we went in at a very busy time.
chand himself was very polite and talktive and so were the staff. I would recommend this shop for anyone who is looking for that perfect outfit.

  18. It is best to visit the store at a quieter time, preferably weekdays when Chand is in. He is very honest in his opinion. Tries his best to cater to your needs. The girls are very very hard working, considering the fussiness they have to put up with and missing lunch breaks you can't blame them for getting a little irritated at times. I must say chands attitude has improved a lot over time. I would rather spend a couple of hundred pounds extra for the quality than get a less than average piece elsewhere....only for very special occasions mind you. He is very expensive.

  20. hi
First of all the stock chand has in his shop had been there for a good 4 years, he never changes it, or has a sale, his shop looks like a frikking museum.
Second of all can i say that Chand is a rude obnoxious smelly man. He is pushy and wont let you see the bridal collection without an apppointment, i prefer to be left to myself when deciding, instead i had chand and his staff up my butt the whole time.
Third of all, his staff are rude too, they wont even greet the customer. If you go to anyother shop they usually say hello atleast, as they are taking hundreds of pounds for the clothes they are selling. I cant believe people still go to this place.
The whole place is a joke and the clothes are over priced and ugly!!

  21. Been to this store the customer service was very poor and i was even abused by chand and his co partners, The buying experience was fantastic but the suit did not fit after they measured me, I was told i had put on weight in the last 1 week and was told to leave the shop without a refund. And to go through the courts.. Very rude...

  22. Hi
I can so relate to all the customer complaining, i placed my order and was told it will be here in time, (2 weeks before weddding, no problem) after numerous calls to chand i got my out the day before when i should have been and the miya service.
He does have some beauitful pieces, but sorry Chand the customer service is very very poor and to top it of no apology.

  23. To all the people on here complementing the service

    a) would not be surprised if you work at the shop and are posting anonymous comments

    b) from one of the above quote "CHAND... you & your girls work so hard...& such long hours.. ignore all the negative comments...from your very fussy customer" - oh ok.. so him and his girls work soo hard but the rest of us sit around like bumps do we? they get paid a lot so maybe they should think about where that money is coming from (the customer) before they treat customers so poorly, i didnt realise that wanting your outfit to actually fit after paying around £3000 for it was being "fussy"

    c) another customer fake ass comment "we all know why the others can't digest your popolarity" cant spell popularity

    d) I agree with everyone on here about how they treat you once they have your money, frankly they don't give a shit, it the outfits are the wrong size: tough, wrong colour: tough, some how they go with the approach that everything is the customers fault and theres nothing they can do about it.

    e) My personal experience - treated me really well before placing the order, made me feel really confident and happy that id chosen them, to the point that my sisters decided wed all get our clothes from them hence 5 outfits @ £750 = £3750 + my sister inlaw's outfit @ £3000, with a grand total of £6750

So what did we get for £6750, a bridal lengha that was 5inches (yes thats right 5") 2 long and 2 tight and 5 outfits that were all to long and 2 were a shade lighter then the rest.

now being a quite reserved family... it was difficult to speak up, I tried to bring it up with the girls but they would not accept responsibility and treated me soo bad, they would not agree to fix the clothes or offer a refund or discount for the mistake, i felt so crap and outnumbered with 3 of them all hovering over me, felt soo bullied that I took the clothes (except lengha) and left.

Then when my sister-inlaw went in for her fitting they made her cry and she said they made her feel so small, blaming her for the fact that clothes did not fit.. my question is what.. you think she shrunk 5inches?

they are all retards, we actually went to a solicitor and though about taking legal action, but decided it wasnt worth it as it would have just cost more and put a further dampen mood on the wedding.

I really cant believe how they get away with it!

  24. i have shopped here before and absolutly agrre on the negtive comments. the staff are rude and pushy and once they take ur money, they dont even bother to say hello to you when u dome to collect ur clothes - its like ur no longer important. im surprised just how many of us had a similar experienec. my sister had her bridal outfit form here costing over 500 pounds for her mehndi. When we returned they were being shady about her trying it on saying it will fit. she tried it on and all teh stitching under the arm was all pulled and stretched. they said it was cus her arms were big - she is a size 10! they had taken the measurements, they did not say theyd be any issues and yet this was their pathetic exscuse. the quality of teh the adjusments was so poor which we had to pay for. when we compalianed they did nto care. we continued to complain as the outfit was 5 dyas late and now there was time to get something else, the old man in the shop pushed us and my elderly mother who has a walkign stick out. wish wed called the police but we were under so much stress frm the wedding, we couldnt take much more. all in all, so many of us have had teh same experience. this place should be shut down by trading standards!

  25. Been to Khushboo for a family wedding and got all my pieces from the ready made and the tailor shop on Ladypool Road. The clothes are absolutely stunning and very different to anything else.
When going on a weekend expect a rush and poor customer service as they are very busy becuase they are the best. However, Chand and the rest of the family are lovely and give great advice.
As the pieces are high quality don't expect a low price. However its worth what you pay for.

    Whenever you need

  26. I bought an outfit from Khushboos for a friends wedding . At first I was quoted £450.So I said give me your best price on this .. she went down from from £450 to £300 in less then 60 secs! My measurments were taken, colours chosen and i paid the full amount in cash. My outfit was 3 days late, I started crying in Khushboos, the staff were sympathetic and chased it up and it arrived the next day. So to be fair my experiance was not that bad, considering I ordered the outfit 2 weeks before the wedding. It turned out BEAUTIFUL the colours were perfect better then I had imagined. Will I be going back? YES :)
