Nivedita Saboo Couture at the Ardhanginni Indian Wedding Show 2011

The collection from Nivedita Saboo Couture, as showcased at the 2011 Ardhanginni Indian Wedding Show was the designer's Indian fusion collection called "Foignee".

There was lots of skin on show with sheer fabrics:
I love the colour concept of this collection, although personally I wouldn't be comfortable wearing such transparent clothes.

The collection wasn't all about sheer fabrics though and the colour concept was followed through in these more traditional styled outfits:
Love the jacket on this outfit.

This maxi dress is one of my favourites from the collection.

Saffron by Nidhi Tholia at the Ardhanginni Indian Wedding Show 2011

Here's the "Saffron" Collection by Nidhi Tholia, as showcased at the Ardhanginni Indian Wedding Show 2011, which took place in London last month.

The collection was full of bright churidar suits with a few saris too for some variety.
What do you think of the contrasting coloured "waistcoats" worn with these two churidar suits?

This orange and pink stripey outfit was my least favourite, that colour combination can work, but in this case I think it looks a little bit too much!

If I had to choose a favourite, it would probably be this pink sari, it has a bit of a retro bollywood feel to it and I like that.

A big thanks to Shahid Malik Studio for these photos.

Khubsoorat Collection by Mani Kohli at the Ardhanginni Indian Wedding Show 2011

Khubsoorat Collection by Mani Kohli were one of the designers who took to the catwalk at last month's Ardhanginni Indian Wedding Show.

One thing that makes Khubsoorat Collection stand out a little from the rest of Indian designers who have set up shop in the UK is that they have moved with the times and really embraced the online world.

There are a number of well known asian stores who are still using websites which were designed in 2005, and even more who don't have a website at all. Khubsoorat Collection have an up-to-date website and although they don't have the functionality to shop online, they have a blog and a regularly updated facebook page too.

You can visit their website here KhubsooratCollection.com and they have even uploaded a video of their show on youtube:

Now onto the photos:
This outfit above was my favourite out of the light coloured lehngas, I like the hint of pink in the skirt.

A big thanks to Shahid Malik Studio for these photos.

The all important bridal outfit will be provided by London's Raishma.

First look at the Ardhanginni Indian Wedding, Destination and Lifestyle Show

The Ardhanginni Indian Wedding, Destination and Lifestyle Show took place last month at London's Olympia.

When I wrote my pre-event blog post and asked users on twitter whether they would be attending, I got feedback that the ticket prices (£10 for the exhibition and £30 for the fashion show) were a little too expensive, especially when you consider that nobody goes to these type of events on their own, for example a bride-to-be plus two friends who wanted to view the fashion show would end up paying nearly £100.

Taking the price into account, I had very high hopes for the fashion show. I expected to be blown away by all the beautiful indian bridal outfits and was especially looking forward to seeing the collection by Neeta Lulla who had showcased some beautiful bridals she designed for RCKC at the 2010 Asiana Elite Bride Show.

Sadly, this fashion show didn't live up to my expectations. There just weren't enough "bridal" outfits considering this show was billed as an "indian wedding" event.

I'll be posting full collections from each designer, but here's a summary of the show:

Mani Kohli - Khubsoorat Collection
Ironically it was a british-based store, Khubsoorat Collection, which you can find on Green Street in East London, which I thought had the most "bridal" looking outfits.

Saffron by Nidhi Tholia
This collection was quite traditional, although it was mostly churidar suits which are great for pre-wedding events but not the big day itself!

Nivedita Saboo Couture
This was the only lehnga from Nivedita Saboo Couture, the rest of their collection consisted of similar shades of grey/silver matched with other complementing colours.

Zooni
Zooni's collection also included mini-dresses, this was one of the more conservative outfits.

Sounia Gohil
This collection had lots of beautiful saris and compared to the other designers at this event, there was definitely more of a bridal feel.

Neeta Lulla
As beautiful as these dresses are, they're not what I was expecting at all from this show. Neeta Lulla had two collections, these mini-dresses and a collection of longer evening gowns.

Look out for my next few blog posts covering each designer collection in more detail.
