Alankar Sarees at Manchester Asian Wedding Exhibition

Here are the (long overdue!) photos from Manchester's Alankar Sarees showcase at the Asian Lifestyle Wedding and Fashion Exhibition which took place in February this year.

They played it quite safe with the colours for their catwalk collection, lots of red bridals and co-ordinating menswear:

These next three were my personal favourites from the collection. I spoke to the team at Alankar and they said they were working on collections which featured Pakistani style cuts paired with Indian style embroidery:

In addition to the bridal catwalk, Alankar also showcased some contempory menswear pieces, which I think would suit more fashion-concious grooms and wedding guests:

A little update - behind the scenes at Asian Fashion Blog

Regular visitors may have noticed a distinct lack of posts lately...it's been over a month! So I thought I'd post a quick update to let you all know I haven't completely abandoned Asian Fashion Blog!!

My blogging absence is down to holidays, picking up a tummy bugs abroad, my day job and dare I admit this, being too lazy to blog. I feel like I've got my blogging motivation back and I have plenty of blog posts waiting to be written up - some from fashion shows which took place months ago, some more recent and other random asian fashion related things I've come across. Before I get started on those, I thought I'd share some links which I've come across recently and which I think you might like!

Backstage at London Pakistan Fashion Week 2012 - I'll be posting photos from the catwalk soon, but in the meantime you can read one blogger's experience working backstage at this event, from the diva-like antics of the "top" models to all the pretty clothes.

Jasmanique Bedford on Pinterest - How many of my readers are in Pinterest? You can follow my pins here but I also wanted to share a link to the Pinterest page for a company called Jasmanique. They do a range of beautiful fusion-style dresses and eveningwear and what I like most about their Pinterest boards is that it's not just about the dresses, there's inspiration for jewellery, accessories, shoes, make-up, hairstyles, and much much more. Real Wedding: Sapna and Niten - Thanks to wedding blogs and photographers publishing their wedding portfolios online I browse A LOT of wedding pictures. Every bride has something special about them but this one, posted recently on the Asian Wedding Ideas blog really made me think wow. I love the bride's outfit, with it's hint of blue added in so perfectly and the big bold embroidery design on the lengha. Click on the pic to see more photos from the wedding.
