Mongas at the 2013 Asiana Bridal Show London

Mongas collection at the 2013 Asiana Bridal show in London started with a celebrity element - a "perfomance" by music producer Rishi Rich and accompanied by his wife Manrina strutting her stuff on the catwalk.

Rishi and Manrina's wedding was featured heavily in Asiana Magazine and on their website, so maybe that's why they were invited to take part in the show. However for me it didn't have that celebrity "wow" factor and all I can remember from Rishi's musical performance was Coldplay's song "Paradise" so it wasn't exactly original.

Anyway, her dress was pretty, not a colour I'd choose personally but it suited her.

Now onto the rest of the outfits! I liked the purpley-pink colours of the first four outfits.

More long dresses/evening gowns followed, but these were in much lighter colours and the styling of them with fascinators gave them a registry feel.

I liked the sheer part at the top of this dress:

I like the top of this dress, but the bottom seems a little too heavily embroidered for my liking, you almost lose the shape of the dress underneath it all!

The middle outfit in this next photo was a standout for me from the whole show - there was nothing like it from any of the other designers.
I loved the colour combination and the high-low element of the skirt (I'm still on the hunt for a high-low churidar suit for myself).
However I do wonder who would wear this, and what occassion they would wear it to.

Ziggi Studio and Harkirans at the 2013 Asiana Bridal Show

Two of Birmingham's asian fashion stores, Ziggi Studio and Harkirans showcased their collections together at the 2013 Asiana Bridal Show in London. Ziggi Studio provided the sherwanis and Harkirans provided the lehngas.

We're all used to seeing brides in red, but perhaps not so many grooms. I liked that Ziggi Studio's first three outfits were regal red.

What do you think of this colour combination below? I love the lehnga but the red top accessorised with that blue necklace seems a little too contrasting for my liking!

Asian Fashion in Paloma Faith's new music video

British singer Paloma Faith released her new music video this week for the song "Black and Blue" and it features her wearing a lehnga.
Her outfit was from Anokhi House of Sarees, who are based in Leicester. Here's what they said about the outfit:

Paloma chose for this occasion a traditional Indian outfit made from the finest Indian silk, hand embroided with Gold Zardosi work and Swarovski crystals.

Here's a full length image from the video itself, which is all shot in black and white:

Paloma Faith's usual fashion style is quite quirky and I'm used to seeing her with BIG hair and loud make-up, so it's amazing to see her transformation in this Indian outfit. I think it suits her and although for the tone of the song, she's not really dressed the outfit up, I would love to see her wearing an Indian outfit styled in a really glamourous way, I bet she'd easily be able to pull off a full-on asian bridal look.

Here she is at the Brit Awards:

Check out the full video below, her asian outfit first appears at around 2:42

Manish Malhotra in London - my favourites

The Manish Malhotra charity fashion show in London took place last month and by all accounts it looked like an amazing event!

In addition to celebrity guests Urmila Matondkar and Parineeti Chopra, the fashion show itself featured more than 50 beautiful Manish Malhotra outfits.

You can view all of the outfits over on the Asian Fashion Blog facebook page, but here are my favourites from the show:

I really liked the peachy coral and white colour combinations. The outfit above appealed to me because the top is quite long in length - I could imagine it being worn with a shalwar or trousers.

Some more longer tops here and again I love this colour combination. I need to get some hot pink and navy blue into my wardrobe!

If you had to pick one of these outfits which would you choose?

Nicky B at the 2013 Asiana Bridal Show

Nicky B was one of the newer collections on the catwalk at the 2013 Asiana Bridal Show. I remember visiting their exhibition stand and admiring their designs at the 2011 Asiana Wedding Show so it was nice to see their outfits on the catwalk.

I loved this first sari, love the colour combination of silver/grey with peach and the detail on the back of the blouse.

As pretty as they were, in my eyes most of the other outfits didn't compare to the first, and some of the tops seemed a bit too skimpy for my tastes.

These next two outfits were my least favourite, maybe it's the styling or the colour contrasts but either way I wouldn't pick these out to wear personally.

I like the colour contrasts on this next outfit, and I like how the floral design on the blouse is more concentrated on the back. I would wear this (with a few alterations to the blouse to have my top half covered up a bit more!)

The last two outfits were more gown-style, both pretty and nice to show some of the diversity in what's available ftom Nicky B.

Which is your favourite from this collection?
