Lux Style Awards 2013

The 2013 LUX Style Awards took place this month in Lahore. Now in their 12th year, the awards are to celebrate and honour the best Pakistan has to offer in Music, TV, Film and Fashion.

I don't really follow Pakistani films or TV, so I didn't instantly recognise most of the attendees and winners, but regardless of that, here are some of my favourite outfits from the red carpet:

Printed Dresses

First up is Amber in a printed gown from Maheen Karim's "Paradis" collection. I really like the bold design and it has an animal-print feel to it. I've seen this outfit on catwalk models, on other celebs and it looks good on them all!

Fareshteh Aslam in an outfit by Shehla Chatoor - another printed outfit. The only part of the outfit I'm not so sure about is the fringing at the bottom.
It's interesting to see how different this style of outfit looked on the catwalk - the model is showing off A LOT more skin!

Bright Colours

Ammara Hikmat, Momina Sibtain and Andleeb Rana. I had to post this photo because I love the bright colours these ladies chose. I'm not sure about the draping part of the yellow gown on the left which is on the floor, perhaps a feature which would look better in a photoshoot?

Vaneeza and Nomi Ansari

Murtaza Aftab, Huma Murtaza Shah with a friend. I'm instantly drawn to the lime green outfit on the left - another design by Shehla Chatoor. This photo doesn't really show off the dress, but here's a photo from the catwalk:

Sultry dark outfits

Hira Tareen and Zoe Viccaji. The black dress is more appealing to me than the green asymmetric outfit. Compared to some of the other outfits on the catwalk, the black dress is quite modest/covered up, but still looks chic and has some glamour - I like her make-up and choice of hairstyle too!
As for the green outfit, I'm not a big fan of the gold border on her top and compared to the draping on some of the other dresses, like the Shehla Chatoor dresses, this really doesn't compare.

Noor

Another chic black dress and another assymetric/one sleeve design, this time Meesha Shafi wearing a design by Elan.
Her styling is very similar to how the dress looked on the catwalk, with hair all up, although no statement necklace:

Shimmering in Gold
Gold was the colour to shine in at this event, here are three of my favourite gold outfits:

Bombay Stores at Pakistan Fashion Week 4

Here's the collection from Bradford-based Bombay Stores which was showcased on the catwalk at Pakistan Fashion Week 4 in London.

I liked that most of these outfits seem wearable with a few pieces thrown in there for those a bit more adventorous with their style!

First up was this lengha sari. I like the colour combination, especially the hint of orange although it seems a bit heavy for the hot summer we're having here in the UK.

There was a more lightweight feel to the rest of the collection, including these graphic printed tunic tops/kaftans worn with churidar bottoms or leggings:

This was one my favourites from the collection - I like the printed necklace design on the the front.

I keep seeing these shirt-like outfits in the shops, they look good for keeping cool:

They finished with this long gown worn with a matching jacket - I like how the dress is so plain underneath, you could wear that on it's own to less formal event.

Feroza - New online accessories store

Recently a new accessories store launched online and whilst this is nothing new, I was particularly interested in this new store, Feroza, as it was set up by four fellow bloggers!

The team behind Feroza are four sisters and followers of other UK asian fashion blogs may have come across one of the bloggers Curly Fries who covers Pakistani fashion trends, bollywood fashion looks and my favourite feature - reviews of the asian outfits she orders and how she styles them.

Alongside her three sisters, Umm Salihah, M and Jojo, they decided to create a shop selling items they love at affordable prices. Their product range includes:

One of the handmade items in the store, I'd imagine these are even more popular right now with it being Ramadan.


The product range is quite small at the moment but you get the impression that this is because each product has been chosen carefully; they could probably fill their online shop with allsorts, but they have kept their range true to their own tastes and I'm looking forward to seeing what else they decide to stock in the future.
