An Indian Wedding on New Girl

This evening, the season finale of New Girl will be on TV in the UK and anyone who's been watching the series so far or has seen the trailer for this episode will know it features an Indian wedding!

I don't know how the episode goes, but I have seen the outfits and here's what I think!

The Bride - Cece:
Cece is almost unrecognisable dressed in her bridal outfit compared to how the character is usually dressed, and it's not just the clothes - throughout this series and the last she's always been seen with straight hair and a blunt finge:

What do you think of her bridal dress? I think when TV shows portray asian weddings they always give the bride a very traditional look, rather than some of the more modern outfits which real brides actually choose. I'm just not sure this very traditional bridal look fits in with what I imagined the character would wear.
From far away, I don't really like the circle embroidery design on the top - I think it causes the necklace to get a bit lost, even if it looks nice close up.

I like this sari that Cece wore in last week's episode:
I think it's the gold sparkly blouse that does it for me...I really need to get myself a sparkly blouse to go with my saris!

The bride's best friend: Jess
I don't hate this sari, but I don't really like the colour, and as the bride's best friend I was expecting something a bit more glamorous.

When I posted a teaser photo on Twitter, a few people agreed with me:

What do you think of New Girl's take on an Indian wedding and did you like the outfits?

Asiana Magazine Couture Catwalk Show in London featuring Omar Borkan Al Gala

Asiana Magazine are hosting a "couture catwalk" show at the end of this month in London, featuring 10 collections and an appearance from the male model Omar Borkan Al Gala (the man who was supposedly deported from Saudi Arabia for being "too handsome").

It's no secret that I'm a fan of Asiana's catwalk shows, with their annual bridal shows being the one event I make a big effort to attend. Here are some of the asian fashion designers and stores who will be taking part in the show alongside and some of their previous collections:

Variety Silk House

I first saw Variety Silk House's collections on the catwalk at the 2008 Asiana Bridal Show. Their standout piece from that day was this green and purple anarkali suit:

Parul’s Signature

From the collection of saris they have displayed over on Asiana.tv's fashion finder I think we can expect to see more power prints from them at the Couture Catwalk show!

Khushboo’s By Chand

A regular exhibitor at Asiana's Bridal catwalk shows, at the 2013 Bridal Show they started their show with fire eating snake charmer!

Monga’s

I really liked the long evening gown style dresses which they showcased at this year's Asiana bridal show:

Bombay Stores

Last seen on Asian Fashion Blog for their collection at Pakistan Fashion Week 4, I'm looking forward to see more outfits like this:

The rest of the designers have yet to be announced, but in addition to the clothing collections, male model Omar Borkan Al Gala will be doing a live interview on stage and meet and greets for a selection of fans.

The event takes place at the Grosvenor Hotel in London on Sunday 29th September and tickets are available to buy online here priced at £30 for standard seating and £50 for premium seats.

I'll hopefully be attending the show myself, but if not I'm sure I'll be able to get some photos from the catwalk and of Omar Borkan Al Gala to share with you after the event!

Indian designer Manav Gangwani dresses American model Kendra Spears and Prince Rahim Aga Khan for their wedding

This weekend American model Kendra Spears and Prince Rahim Aga Khan were dressed by Indian designer Manav Gangwani for their nikah ceremony.

Here's a photo of the couple:

I love their look, very understated but so elegant and when I posted this photo on the Asian Fashion Blog Facebook page a lot of people agreed!

Kendra tweeted to thank Manav Gangwani and also said thanks to Naomi Campbell for introducing her to the designer! (Naomi was pictured with Manav Gangwani last year during a party she hosted in India - check out the photos here)

I like the sari even more having seen this personal photo (compared to the more posed first photo). I know she's a model and it's her job to make outfits look amazing, but not everyone can pull off a bridal sari - especially if a sari is not something you wear very often.

Here's another photo of the couple:

I'd love to see more from this wedding especially what the other guests wore!
