2017 Aashni & Co Bridal Show

The Aashni & Co bridal show returned to London last month, drawing a whole host of India's top fashion designers, plus a couple of Pakistani designers too.

Sabyasachi bridal fashion at the 2017 Aashni & Co Show

I didn't attend this year but I was watching all the action on Snapchat, Instagram and Twitter. For anyone else that didn't make it, here's a closer look at the event and all those amazing outfits!

For a lot of people I can imagine Sabyasachi was the big draw for this show, and his exhibition stand definitely stood out in terms of style and the old world, regal, impression it created.

In stark contrast to the regal Sabyasachi bridals, there was a huge pop of colour and tie dye in the collection from Anushree Reddy. These outfits to me say FUN and I loved what she showcased last year and at the  2015 Aashni & Co show.

I keep seeing fur accessories, jackets, scarves, gilets, hats all over Instagram...and now on a sari blouse too! Not sure I'm feeling it in this instance...

SVA is one of my favourite labels. I've written about them before and even wore one of their dresses to my brother's wedding (check it out here). Their designs incorporate geometric patterns and I think they like this shade of emerald green - I've seen it pop up quite a bit in their designs.

It wasn't just the wedding and bridal outfits which showed off the style, the designers (and a lot of the attendees) were looking super stylish too!

Here's the official info on the event:

Here's what the designers had to say about the event and showcasing their collections to the UK's brides-to-be and fashion fans:

Renowned designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee said, “Aashni is a great friend and her show is very well put together and organised. It feels like coming home. There is absolutely no stress and things are seamlessly planned. A lot of people in London were excited to see my latest debut collection with Christian Louboutin for shoes and handbags. I also showcased my very celebrated ‘firdaus collection’ that has done well all over the world. I am very happy to bring this to London.”

Abu Jani of the renowned designers Abu-Sandeep, famous for pieces that combine the finest fabrics with exquisite craftsmanship and designs for a range of international stars, including BeyoncĂ© in Coldplay’s “Hymn For The Weekend” music video, designer said “It has been great to come to the 2017 AASHNI + CO Wedding Show and to introduce our latest brand ASAL to the UK audience. We were enthused by the interest attendees had in our designs, which is a testament to the strong interest in Indian fashion in the UK. We hope pieces from our collection have helped to make some wedding days extra special.”

Gaurav Gupta said, “Aashni is the only one in this part of the world who organises this kind of show, bringing the best from the Indian fashion industry. She is a progressive and forward thinking woman and I resonate with her thought. She is able to give a full range of outfits to all the Asian brides in London. Our collection is futuristic and is a newer take on Indian fashion, making it more experimental in a very sophisticated way.”

Also at the show was Rimple Narula of the label Rimple & Harpreet Narula. They are the designer duo for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next magnum opus, Padmavati, starring Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapur and Ranveer Singh. Rimple Narula said:“This is our third time at the show and I think London has become pretty much the second largest market, when it compares to India, looking at how fashion savvy Asians are and their overwhelming response which has been really good.”
